I’m finally able to share our new window treatments from The Shade Store! As I mentioned in my post about our visit to the store, I had a really excellent experience working with their team in choosing styles that tied our rooms together with the existing furniture and fixtures. I wanted to keep the pallet neutral, but elevate the room with some interesting pieces from their collection. Adding these treatments really upped the coziness factor!
Downstairs, we focused on keeping the colors light and natural. In the living room, we chose a floor-to-ceiling ripple fold drapery in white. I love how the warm pallet plays with the light coming through the door. (We took these photos around the holidays — I promise we don’t have our Christmas tree up in August!) The color and texture definitely work year-round.
In the kitchen, we used roman shades for the smaller widows and then a very gauzy white fabric to help soften the angles in the counters and the lines of the shiplap on the walls. It was important to me that the products from The Shade Store integrate into our existing decor. These new treatments have such great movement to them too, and they keep everything in the kitchen light and bright.
And yes, we do have white curtains in a house full of babies and toddlers. Before you call me crazy, I’ll let you in on a little secret — they’re from The Shade Store’s Sunbrella Ventana Collection! Sunbrella fabrics are known for standing up to even the toughest stains and are extremely easy to clean. With our crew, you never know what might end up on them, so we had to find a fabric that can stand up to anything thrown at it (literally…).
For the pantry/laundry room, we wanted to do something fun, so we picked a printed roman shade to create interest. The Avi fabric in Bark ended up being my favorite in the entire home — you could definitely use this same print in a nursery or a child’s bedroom to create a playful visual point!
You’ll notice in the master bedroom and bath we used roman shades with piping— when we first saw it, I really didn’t think it was going to be my style, but the amazing consultants at The Shade Store talked us into it. I couldn’t be happier! It’s still the neutral style that I love, but it provides a little extra interest. They’re also blackout shades, which is so great for using in a bedroom to make sure we’re getting high-quality sleep.
The entire experience, from shopping to installation, was seamless and efficient — especially given all the shipping and other delays with home items right now. We couldn’t recommend The Shade Store more! Check them out here: The Shade Store
